So, as has been the story, sequels are having a tough time this year. Oh darn! Boo hoo. Conjuring 2 probably has the best chance of reversing that trend even if it does less than the first. I doubt it will freefall like many of this year's follow-ups have. Hollywood really needs to start examining what films need sequels. Just because a film is profitable doesn't mean it's necessary. Warcraft is doing huge business overseas, and it should do okay numbers here. It's budget it massive, so it needs those foreign grosses. Now You See Me 2 is the exact type of sequel that isn't necessary, so it'll be lucky to even make 50% of what the original did. Outside the top 10, Love and Friendship and The Lobster continue to hold respectable grosses. The former will finish in the high teens, while the latter will do just under $10m. Great results for both.
