Three openers for the first weekend of June, a typically quieter weekend. Last week's openers either underperformed (X-Men) or flat out bombed (Alice). Alice's failure will probably be blamed on Depp's troubles, but I doubt it was going to do any better without them. Turtles will probably fall down a little from the first installment, and sequels are struggling lately. Me Before You should do fine, I doubt it cost much. The book it's based on is pretty popular, so it might just be a difficult movie to track. Popstar will struggle as the marketing just hasn't been present enough. It has decent reviews, though, so it might end up a favorite at home. Love and Friendship and The Lobster continue to impress, and both will fall just outside the top 10 this weekend. The next several weeks look much more interesting as far as the mainstream releases are concerned.
