If you think about the shit the Oscars and the Globes get, I think it's far more deserved for the Razzies and Independent Spirit Awards. The Razzies never actually honor the worst stuff of the year - well, occasionally they get it right - and they are partial to starfucking, er, starstabbing more so than the Globes. The ISPs meanwhile snub eligible films for no real reason, give random actors nominations while leaving deserving people off their ballots. Let's examine the past 5 winners for the Independent Spirit Awards Best Film:
Juno
Little Miss Sunshine
Brokeback Mountain
Sideways
Lost In Translation
Isn't this kind of annoying? I'd say these films are more low-budget studio films than genuine independents. 3 of them are genuinely great films that do deserve a spotlight they didn't get at the Oscars, but there are completely indie films out there that never make it here.
