I went 18/27 with 8 alts. I only messed up Actor in a Drama Series.
Rather uneventful Globes. Jo Koy bombed and this is a just a reminder that the host of these things needs to be someone the industry knows and likes. Witness the difference in crowd reaction between Koy and when Wiig/Ferrell presented. For the love of God stop it with the THIS FILM IS LONG jokes. Not too many Globes-y moments. Way too much banter, but at least the show only went about 5 minutes long with no one really getting played off.
I worry that these wins just made the next 2 months very predictable. I guess there's a race for Actor, but unless SAG and BAFTA split, whoever wins those takes it. Giamatti vs. Murphy. Lily Gladstone got a huge reaction, 2 standings ovations. Lots of love for Emma Stone, too, but Lily is miles ahead in that race. And speaking of standing ovations, those were a bit much. Did everyone get one? I wonder why. I like when the crowds are into the show and are active, but I'm not sure everyone deserved one.
So annoying that no one did a red carpet outside of Variety's digital bullshit. E! is doing a bunch of stuff for the Emmys next week, so I don't get why they completely blanked on these. Variety's hosts are awful. I actually miss Giuliana. The worst thing she ever did was drop Helen Mirren's trophy.
Get rid of those stupid categories for next year. Bring back the DeMille and Burnett awards!
