As of right now, there are no major new releases until...mid April? It's hard to say, as most of the releases scheduled for April and May have been pulled. It appears right now that Trolls: World Tour will be the first major new release on April 10, and even that is scheduled to do a VOD release of $19.99 for a 48 hour rental. Universal is releasing The Invisible Man, Emma, and The Hunt on VOD on Friday with the same $20 for 48 hour rental deal. Birds of Prey and Bloodshot will be available for digital purchase next week. I don't think this will mark a major change in the way films are released, though.
As for the theaters themselves, Regal is closed indefinitely. AMC is scheduled to be closed "6 to 12 weeks". There's no way to tell when things will start to reopen. But as of right now, it looks like all the films that were in release over the weekend are probably done their runs. They might be re-released to help fill the multiplexes when things start to reopen, but I doubt any of them make much more than a few million. A24 has already announced it will be relaunching First Cow at a later date. Hopefully, Focus does the same with Never Rarely Sometimes Always.
That's it for now. Fingers crossed that this "downtime" isn't too long.
