Box: Reopening Now...Soon

Well, a good five months later...

Here we are. The summer 2020 movie season kicks off with what would usually be the second to last week of a typical summer. The long (long long) delayed The New Mutants opens in just over 2,400 theaters. Last week, Unhinged opened in wide release. It did a little over $4m and was seen as a big win, which lets you know where we are. For this weekend, it looks like 3 films will open in wide release. Some international grosses coming in are fairly solid, so it's just up to the US to get its shit together over the next several months and maybe the holidays can do decent numbers. Until then, it looks like the only victories will be small ones. I have no idea when I'll return to a normal top 10. I'll just be doing weekend predictions for the time being.

1. The New Mutants - $9m

2. Unhinged - $3m

3. Bill and Ted Face the Music - $1.5m

4. The Personal History of David Copperfield - $1m

And as far as my summer 2020, I used to it to catch up on some summer movies of the past that I haven't seen or ones that I haven't seen in decades. Some of them I've put up ratings for on the sidebar and others I haven't yet. That's a post coming in the next week or so.
