Box: Clint Eastwood's Paul Blart Reboot

The Jumanji reboot follow-up (huh?) leads the pack this weekend. It's already certain to not match the gross of the 2017 installment. It should still do very solid business. The second Black Christmas remake opens. I doubt it cost very much, as production was ridiculously fast. I think it started filming sometime in July? An opening in the low teens with a total domestic of around $30m should be fine, even with no reviews yet and some still pissed at the last minute switch to a PG-13 rating. The 2006 version only grossed $16m. The last new wide release is Richard Jewell. It's probably too dark and serious to take off at this time of the year. Eastwood proved he still has some box-office clout with last year's The Mule, which did $100m. However, he's not in this. This might be able to do half that and still be a slight win. In limited, Uncut Gems, Bombshell, and A Hidden Life begin their runs. The Adam Sandler film opens wide on Christmas Day, while the Fox News dramedy goes wide on the 20th. No idea what the expansion plans are for Terrence Malick's film, but it probably won't do more than high single digits.
