77th Globe Dix

Announced Monday morning by Tim Allen, Dakota Fanning and Susan Kelechi Watson.

I'll start with TV, which is growing increasingly hard given the vast amount of shows and networks/streamers. Are we calling them "streamers"?

It's also worth noting that the Oscars will be exactly 2 months after Monday. Even though the Oscars were "only" moved up two weeks, this season feels even shorter.

Foreign Language Film:
The Farewell - Les Miserables - Pain and Glory - Parasite - Portrait of a Lady on Fire
alt: The Traitor

Supporting Actor:
Tom Hanks - A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood
Anthony Hopkins - The Two Popes
Al Pacino - The Irishman
Joe Pesci - The Irishman
Brad Pitt - Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
alt: Shia LaBeouf - Honey Boy
Lots of people predicting Shia, but I'm curious how far he can go. Hasn't he burnt too many bridges? He'd make sense given how old-skewing this category is shaping up to be. There's also Jamie Foxx.

Supporting Actress:
Kathy Bates - Richard Jewell
Laura Dern - Marriage Story
Jennifer Lopez - Hustlers
Florence Pugh - Little Women
Margot Robbie - Bombshell
alt: Zhao Shuzhen - The Farewell
If Zhao gets this, she's in it for the long haul. I'm not buying ScarJo here for Jojo. If Margot gets in for Hollywood, that will show that film's strength.

Actor - Comedy/Musical:
Daniel Craig - Knives Out
Roman Griffin Davis - Jojo Rabbit
Leonardo DiCaprio - Once Upon a Time In Hollywood
Taron Egerton - Rocketman
Eddie Murphy - Dolemite Is My Name
alt: Himesh Patel - Yesterday
Not confident in Roman. Maybe Shia gets in here for Peanut Butter Falcon?

Actress - Comedy/Musical:
Awkwafina - The Farewell
Ana de Armas - Knives Out
Beanie Feldstein - Booksmart
Julianne Moore - Gloria Bell
Constance Wu - Hustlers
alt: Kaitlyn Dever - Booksmart
A lot of people predicting Emma Thompson for Late Night? I'm curious where Jessie Buckley was placed.

Actor - Drama:
Antonio Banderas - Pain and Glory
Robert De Niro - The Irishman
Adam Driver - Marriage Story
Joaquin Phoenix - Joker
Jonathan Pryce - The Two Popes
alt: Adam Sandler - Uncut Gems
Or Christian Bale or Paul Walter Hauser.

Actress - Drama:
Cynthia Erivo - Harriet
Scarlett Johansson - Marriage Story
Saoirse Ronan - Little Woman
Charlize Theron - Bombshell
Renee Zellweger - Judy
alt: Lupita Nyong'o - Us
Or Alfre Woodard. I'd die for a surprise Elisabeth Moss nom.

Screenplay:
The Irishman - Little Women - Marriage Story - Once Upon a Time In Hollywood - Parasite
alt: Knives Out

Director:
Sam Mendes - 1917
Martin Scorsese - The Irishman
Greta Gerwig - Little Women
Quentin Tarantino - Once Upon a Time In Hollywood
Bong Joon Ho - Parasite
alt: Noah Baumbach - Marriage Story
I guess it doesn't make much sense to have Marriage Story getting 6 other noms, but missing here. I think they might feel they owe Greta a nom after snubbing her last time. Plus, optics and all.

Motion Picture - Comedy/Musical:
Hustlers
Jojo Rabbit
Knives Out
Once Upon a Time In Hollywood
Rocketman
alt: Dolemite Is My Name
OH GOD THE CATS WHAT ABOUT THE CATS!?!?!? Rocketman is a very HFPA choice. Such a shame Booksmart probably will be ignored.

Motion Picture - Drama:
1917
Ford Vs. Ferrari
The Irishman
Little Women
Marriage Story
alt: Joker
Is the Clint Eastwood thing happening?
