Box: I'd really like a Micro Machines movie, please!

Dark Waters expands wide after a decent but unspectacular run in select cities. The other opener, Playmobil: The Movie, was supposed to open Labor Day weekend, but was bumped to this notoriously dead weekend. The latter doesn't even appear to be getting full runs at most theaters. So the holdovers will be the story before the December potential blockbusters arrive next weekend. Frozen 2 is just under $300m right now. I'll say it probably matches the gross of the original assuming it can stick around until early January. Knives Out did very well over Thanksgiving. Can it leg out to $100m? It might just fall short. Ford Vs. Ferrari is all set to cross that line sometime in mid December. Despite the A+ Cinemascore, its hold aren't as impressive as expected. Likewise, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood felt like it would be much bigger than it ended up. Still, it's looking at $65-75m, which is fine. Queen and Slim has been doing brisk business, and will probably end up with $40m - a very good sum.

1. Frozen 2 - $30m
2. Knives Out - $15.5m
3. Ford Vs. Ferrari - $7.1m
4. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood - $6.7m
5. Queen and Slim - $6.2m
6. Dark Waters - $3.5m
7. Playmobil: The Movie - $3m
8. 21 Bridges - $2.9m
9. Playing With Fire - $2.5m
10. Midway - $2.1m
