Curse of La Llorona arrives likely being one of the weaker performers associated with The Conjuring universe. (I'm not sure the film is tied directly to the franchise or not?) Still, it was probably cheap and these films are doing bigger and bigger worldwide. In the end, much like Pet Sematary, it'll be fine. Two other openers par for this time of year: the religious-themed Breakthrough, which will probably perform slightly lighter than Miracles From Heaven did a few years back. And lastly, the Disney Nature doc Penguins. These films have never been huge business. Expanding into moderate release is the Elle Fanning film Teen Spirit, which didn't really make a blip last week in limited. Not sure why Bleeker Street is set on such an aggressive expansion. It probably won't even do a million this weekend. Next week is another little indie called Avengers: Endgame which also probably won't make the top 10. We'll see.
