RIP Anton Yelchin 1989-2016

Man, fuck this year.

A wonderful young actor most famously known for playing Chekov in the Star Trek reboot, Anton left an impressive resume that mixed small character driven films as well as big budget remakes/sequels. He brought a completely natural presence to almost every role he played. I haven't seen Green Room yet, but I've been waiting forever for it. It comes to home media in July. Anton's best performance may have been the otherwise middling Charlie Bartlett, a role that found him effortlessly working opposite and stealing scenes from Robert Downey Jr. In his too brief life, he worked with a vast slate of directors, everyone from Jim Jarmusch to Jodie Foster to JJ Abrams to Joe Dante. Yelchin has several films due over the next year including Star Trek Beyond which is due next month. He was 27.
