This announcement usually happens about a month earlier. I guess the producers are taking a cue from the Golden Globes and SAGs and announcing everyone in the week leading up to the ceremony.
Oscar-winners Daniel Day-Lewis, Jennifer Lawrence, Christoph Waltz and Anne Hathaway (last year's acting winners lineup) are the first official presenters for this year's telecast. Of course, Kristen Bell and Michael B. Jordan co-hosted the Sci/Tech ceremony, which means they will likely appear on the show. Additionally, Bette Midler is confirmed as performing on the show for the first time. Most bet(te)s are on her singing during the In Memoriam segment. Though, who knows how many musical tributes we'll have this year!
I will give the producers credit for assembling a good amount of stars last year. If there's one thing I want them to carry over to this year, it's that. And nothing else.
