The Hobbit's tracking is quite broad.  I just don't see a $100m+ opening in December, and given the reviews some people might opt to wait to see it.  Nevertheless, it is the season's biggest movie despite apparently being a bloated mess.  Lincoln and Silver Linings (and Life of Pi, as well?) will see small drops, maybe even bumps, due to tomorrow's Golden Globe announcement.  The Hobbit is the first of 8 movies to be released wide over the next 11 days.  What's odd is that outside of Monsters Inc's rerelease, none of them are family-friendly.  This will help Guardians, and maybe even Wreck-It Ralph, stay afloat in the coming weeks.  A lot will depend on how many theaters they lose.  I can't believe the studios didn't notice this.  It might have been a smart move to hold Guardians off until December, rather than release it over Thanksgiving.
