Box: I eat my words over Black Swan's performance

I didn't have any catchy titles relating to The Green Hornet or The Dilemma. Remember when January was the dumping ground for all-out duds or okay teen movies that did modest business? It seems we've replaced them with mixed reviewed semi-blockbusters. Black Swan continues to be the "it movie", even hitting #2 on Tuesday. It will be in 2000 theatres this weekend, perfect timing for the Golden Globes and Oscar noms in less than two weeks. In the end, it will cross $100 million. I think The King's Speech, which is also getting a nice theatre count increase this weekend, has a slim shot at crossing the century mark given its expansion and great word of mouth. A big help to both (as well as True Grit and The Fighter) is that every weekend up until the second in February will only see two movies released. Despite the terrific performance of the awards fare, Rabbit Hole is struggling in limited. Even with a boost from Nicole's inevitable Oscar nom, it won't cross $3 million.

(all projected weekend grosses are three day)

1. The Green Hornet - $28m / $28m / $80m
2. The Dilemma - $20m / $20m / $60m
3. True Grit - $9.5m / $124.5m / $160m
4. Black Swan - $7.5m / $72m / $106m
5. Little Fockers - $7m / $134m / $158m
6. The King's Speech - $6m / $41.5m / $90m
7. Tron Legacy - $5.5m / $156.5m / $174m
8. Season of the Witch - $5.5m / $19m / $34m
9. The Fighter - $5m / $65.5m / $90m
10. Yogi Bear - $5m / $81.5m / $100m
