Inception is performing about as I expected it to. But the hyper-fanboy reaction is acting as if its performance is the secong coming. Fanboys will be fanboys. The film's advantage is its reviews and word of mouths, and it should be in the top 10 well into the end of next month. The Kids Are All Right continues to do outstanding in limited and looks like it could end up with $30-35 million, more than enough to secure it a Best Picture slot. Action Angelina hits screens this week, one of the few reliable performers remaining among movie stars. The film's mostly positive reviews should carry it to a decent if unspectacular run. Wanted opened huge 2 years ago. I expect this to open softer but match that film's final domestic gross. Lastly, Ramona and Beezus is expected to not even break into the double digits. Of course, it could pull a Diary of a Wimpy Kid and surprise everyone if the book's fanbase is there. Who knows? Kids movies are often the hardest to gage. Next week: schmucks, a totally unnecessary sequel to a movie no one remembers, and some Zac Efron movie that looks more and more terrible each time I see an ad for it.
