SAG Dix

The 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards air Saturday night on TNT/TBS at 8PM Eastern. Since I'm a massive loser, I like having an award show on a Saturday night.

Scheduled presenters include Patricia Arquette, Abraham Attah, Jason Bateman, Priyanka Chopra, Bryan Cranston, Taye Diggs, Idris Elba, Anna Faris, Jon Hamm, Corey Hawkins, Ken Howard, O'Shea Jackson Jr, Michael Keaton, Keegan Michael Key, Diane Lane, Brie Larson, Eva Longoria, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Anthony Mackie, Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren, Jason Mitchell, Julianne Moore, Pedro Pascal, Eddie Redmayne, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Susan Sarandon, Sarah Silverman, JK Simmons, Jacob Tremblay and Kristen Wiig.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Carol Burnett.

I say this every year but it bears reiterating: the SAGs are typically a very sedate award show. Very few memorable things happen and it's pretty much the same show every year.

This happened last year and it was the greatest thing ever:

Predictions:

TV:

Female Actor - Comedy: Julia Louis-Dreyfus - Veep
(alt: Uzo Aduba - Orange Is the New Black / though really, any of these ladies could win)
Male Actor - Comedy: Jeffrey Tambor - Transparent
(alt: Ty Burrell - Modern Family)
Ensemble - Comedy: Orange Is the New Black
(alt: Veep)
Female Actor - Drama: Viola Davis - How To Get Away With Murder
(alt: Maggie Smith - Downton Abbey)
Male Actor - Drama: Jon Hamm - Mad Men
(alt: Rami Malek - Mr. Robot) - It's kind of amazing he got in here given how long it takes SAG to notice people.
Ensemble - Drama: Game of Thrones
(alt: Mad Men)
Male Actor - TV Movie/Miniseries: Idris Elba - Luther
(alt: Mark Rylance - Wolf Hall)
Female Actor - TV Movie/Miniseries: Queen Latifah - Bessie
(alt: Nicole Kidman - Grace of Monaco)

FILM:

Female Actor in a Supporting Role: Kate Winslet - Steve Jobs
(alt: Alicia Vikander - The Danish Girl)
I think it's between those two.

Male Actor in a Supporting Role: Mark Rylance - Bridge of Spies
(alt: Idris Elba - Beasts of No Nation)
So three of these guys aren't nominated for an Oscar - LOL. The Oscar frontrunner Stallone isn't nominated here. I could see anyone winning here except Shannon. Elba might benefit from the film being snubbed everywhere else and it doing well with SAG.

Female Actor in a Leading Role: Brie Larson - Room
(alt: Saoirse Ronan - Brooklyn)
Brie might be locked in at this point, Saoirse always has BAFTA.

Male Actor in a Leading Role: Leonardo DiCaprio - The Revenant
(alt: Bryan Cranston - Trumbo)
I almost didn't put an alternate.

Motion Picture Ensemble: The Big Short
(alt: Spotlight)
*sigh*
