The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (I think that is what it's called?) had a sequel that starts production next month.  Most likely a mistake.  The other two releases You're Next and The World's End are among the best reviewed movies of the summer, and both sadly probably won't make much of a dent.  Lionsgate held Next for two years, and probably should have considered bumping it to October where its only genre competition is the Carrie remake.  I think it might be too close to The Purge to go bigger but maybe word of mouth will carry it.  It reminds me of The Descent back in 2006, another critically acclaimed horror movie released in August by Lionsgate that underperformed.  Blue Jasmine finally goes wide and had some of its thunder stolen last week by The Butler.  It's performance will fall right in the middle of To Rome With Love and Midnight in Paris.  Sony Pictures Classics should still be very pleased.  Only one more week of the summer movie season!

I love this poster:
