Oscar Presenters...

Ah, my usual favorite part of the days leading up to the Academy Awards: finding out who is presenting.  I'm of the school that the more presenters, the better.  I never understood why people bitch that there isn't enough star power are the ones that also complain about too many categories.  You cut the categories, you cut the number of stars attending.  Simple.  Of course, the 82nd Academy Awards had the most presenters of any show I can remember - in the high 50's, if I'm remembering correctly - and you know I consider that the worst show I've seen.  I'd say any number in the 40's will suffice.  The producers of this year's telecast have already made several announcements in terms of who will be there.  I don't trust these producers at all, as they are seemingly insisting in turning the show into some kind of bloated, tacky musical.  Yes, I get that's fitting given a particular Best Picture nominee, but....  Ugh, I'm just sick of trainwreck Oscar shows.  There's always going to be some good with the bad, but it would be nice for a change if the good aspects far outweighed the bad.

Here's who we have so far:
Jean Dujardin
Christopher Plummer
Octavia Spencer
Meryl Streep
All four of last year's acting winners are returning.  $10 says Anne, in her speech, begins by mentioning that Plummer was in Sound of Music.

Mark Wahlberg
Ted, the teddy bear.
Given the host, we knew this was happening.

Robert Downey Jr
Chris Evans
Samuel L. Jackson
Jeremy Renner
Mark Ruffalo
5/7 of The Avengers.  I'm thinking these men will be doing what the cast of Bridesmaids did last year and presenting the short film categories.  This would be the smartest way of presenting that trio of awards - getting a strong star-studded ensemble.  Sex on a stick Chris Hemsworth is most likely filming Thor 4: More Thor, thus explaining his absense.  As for ScarJo, no word on whether or not she'll be performing the nominated song from Chasing Ice.  I would think if she were to do that, it would have been announced with her fellow superheroes.

Chris Pine
Zoe Saldana
Not confirmed, but they are co-hosting the Sci/Tech ceremony this weekend.  The person - and this is the first time it's been hosted by a duo - who does that usually presents the segment at the Oscars.  The only person I can recall who didn't was Rachel McAdams back in 2005.  I was very sad about that.

Charlize Theron
Channing Tatum
Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Daniel Radcliffe
These were announced today.  Channing was a given.  Surprised about Radcliffe, and it sounds like he might be performing something given the wording of the press release.

Additionally, Adele, Norah Jones, Barbra Streisand, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Jennifer Hudson (I think?) have all been confirmed to perform.  They are doing a tribute to Les Miserables, Dreamgirls and Chicago so assume several cast members for each will be performing.  Trainwreck, here we come!

Here's who I'd like to see added in the days ahead:
+the Emma's (Stone and Watson) - Emma Stone was MVP presenter last year, but I can't recall anyone that announced the Oscar nominees then appeared on the show.  Emma Watson - because she had a nice performance in the very well liked Perks of Being a Wallflower and has the OMGCANTWAITFORIT Bling Ring coming out this summer.  It's strange to realize that Watson and Radcliffe have NEVER presented at the Oscars or the Globes.  Both have been at the BAFTAs and Radcliffe was at the Tonys several times.
+Nicole Kidman.  Duh.  She'll be there to support Naomi and comfort her when she loses.
+Emily Blunt
+Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig.  YOU GET IN HERE!  Actually, just get the entire cast of Anchorman 2 to present.
+Daniel Craig.  They are doing a Bond tribute, so I guess he'll be there.
+Sandra Bullock - always fun.  And she has two movies coming out this year, one with George Clooney and one with Melissa McCarthy.  So have her present with either one of them.
+Liam Neeson - given he's now our biggest action movie star and was supposed to play Abraham Lincoln originally.

Just please refrain from Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel or Jennifer Lopez.  At this point, all their careers consist of is them presenting at award shows.
