Ben Affleck - "Argo"
This is the third time the DGA winner was not Oscar nominated. The other two were Ron Howard for Apollo 13 and Steven Spielberg for The Color Purple. When the Oscar for Best Directing is handed out on February 24th, it will be the 9th time the DGA winner does not match the Oscar winner.
With that, Argo is still the front-runner for Best Picture.

Fantasy Film - Life of Pi
Contemporary Film - Skyfall
Period Film - Anna Karenina
I'm still not sold on Life of Pi's production design. I guess its mostly pretty stars and glowing fish? Cloud Atlas should have won Art Direction - Fantasy Film. Skyfall, however, is a very deserving winner for Contemporary Film.
