And you just know there's a cast member from Glee going to be announced in a few days.
Across the internets, it is being reported that offers have been sent out to Rory Culkin (Mean Creek), Ashley Greene (the Twilight franchise) and Hayden Panettiere (Heroes) to join the cast of Scream 4, with Lake Bell (It's Complicated) in final negotiations to join the film. Greene is rumored to be the film's lead, Jill, Sidney's cousin. Bell is playing a police officer that went to high school with Sidney, and Panettiere would play a film geek. *Sigh* Remember how every horror movie since Scream has one of those?
I don't mind Bell, Culkin or even Panettiere but Greene is a big question mark for me. It was rumored that she wanted more money to do Breaking Dawn, so I'm wondering if throwing her name into the mix of this film isn't just some sort of dirty negotiation tactic for that Mormon-vampire-tween-erotica-bullshit. I can only hope. Besides, Greene has already appeared in some D2DVD horror trash, and if we're going by this year's retarded Oscars, Twilight is horror. Get some new blood for the genre.
The Scream films were able to score TV stars (Campbell, Cox, Gellar) because of the summer shooting i.e. while TV stars are on hiatus. With that in mind, drop Greene and replace her with Community's Alison Brie. Or Emma Stone.
