And woah! The love for Parasite was palpable. They got a standing ovation just for presenting. Looks like we might have a race between it and 1917, after all. Parasite becomes the first foreign language winner in SAG Ensemble. And people thought this type of thing couldn't happen when SAG merged with AFTRA?

This was better than most SAG awards ceremonies. The speeches were, at least, miles better than usual. Renee and Joaquin were much improved from their Globe speeches. I love Renee's Texas twang and would love to see her get a role where she could use it. Joaquin ended his speech with a shoutout to Heath Ledger. Classy. Dern is Hollywood royalty and deeply appreciative. But Pitt just owns that stage with his natural charm. The line about Tarantino separating more women from their shoes than the TSA = gold. Even the TV people were much better at their speeches than usual.  De Niro's speech was great, too. It must be said he was a total stud in some of those older films. And after two well received political speeches, Michelle Williams gave a speech that very industry and very funny. I had to think for a few seconds about what role she was talking about playing a ghost. Aniston's shoutout to Adam Sandler = nice.

OMG stop it with the ensemble clips for film just being trailer excerpts. Every. freagin. year.

WTF is with this hero montage? SAG has some of the weirdest montages sometimes.

Meryl Streep going strapless in the audience! Some of her fans pointed out it's one of the first times she's done that.

Interesting that all of the winners, including ensembles, but minus Parasite, were white. You probably won't hear any controversy over this because the unions seem to go unnoticed/ignored, whereas the Globes and BAFTAs and Oscars get all the backlash and hashtags. The unions are the most representative of the industry as a whole, so once again it proves that the lack of women/POC/LGBT+ is systemic and needs to be addressed accordingly.

But hey, they did give us this:
