Box: Jamie Lee Curtis invades another holiday

Two openers for the 5-day. Knives Out has very good reviews and preview screenings last weekend were well attended. 3-day should hit low 20's, with 5-day just over 30 million. Queen and Slim also has very good reviews, but doesn't have that high of a theater count. 5-day should be into the teens, which is solid given the film probably wasn't expensive. Frozen 2 will be around $300m by the end of the long weekend, pretty much where I had it pegged. Ford Vs. Ferrari will be at around $85m after the 5-day. It didn't hold as strongly as I anticipated, perhaps too much competition for the same audience. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood opened lighter than expected for the same reason. The adult audience has a lot of options right now. The Mr. Rogers dramedy will be in the low to mid 30's but Sunday evening. $100m looks out of the question, sadly.

(3-day predictions)
1. Frozen 2 - $80m
2. Knives Out - $20m
3. Ford Vs. Ferrari - $14.5m
4. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood - $12.5m
5. Queen and Slim - $8m
6. 21 Bridges - $7m
7. Playing With Fire - $4.5m
8. Midway - $4m
9. The Good Liar - $2.8m
10. Joker - $2.3m
