Four openers this weekend, plus Jojo Rabbit expands wide. Two of last week's four openers will already fall out of the top 10. Too many movies this month; I think we have at least 8 more wide releases. Doctor Sleep should easily take the top spot. Reviews are exactly what I expected: mixed, but there are some raves. I suspect it won't be an audience-friendly film and go on to be a cult hit. Midway's reviews are mostly pans, and the best case scenario would be Hacksaw Ridge numbers. Last Christmas doesn't have any reviews yet, though they are expected to be mixed/negative. I suspect word of mouth will be decent from audiences and it might have decent legs. The John Cena comedy Playing With Fire is the last opener. Live action family comedies have done okay in this slot in the past, but the market is very crowded. And Frozen 2 opens in two weeks. And holy shit I just saw that Joker crossed $300m. Crazy.
