9. The Farewell - $1.5m / $2m / $18m
10. Annabelle Comes Home - $1.5m / $69.5m / $72m

One opener this weekend. I'm not sure how many theaters The Farewell will be going into, but it shouldn't have much trouble making the top 10. It continued to play like gangbusters last weekend, and is set for a nationwide expansion next weekend. My $18m final prediction is just a stab in the dark, as it really depends on how well it does once it goes wide. Last year, A24 opened Eighth Grade in a similar spot but that had some trouble crossing over and finished with $13.5m. As for this weekend's star studded opener, it feels like there's a lot riding on it. It features one of the last true box-office draws, but he hasn't had a movie in 4 years. It's also a big budget original film, something that might be going extinct. It does feel buzz is light to be really big. If audiences are really craving something not tied to a franchise, this is their best option for the season.
