75th Globe Dix

I realized something: I never did a Best Dressed list for last year's show. I was going through previous Globe commentaries and was shocked I let that go.

Given this will be an understandably muted fashion affair this year, I went back and edited my thoughts on last year's show with a Top 3 Best Dressed. LINK!

TV!

WILL WIN: Laura Dern - Big Little Lies
(alt: Michelle Pfeiffer - The Wizard of Lies)

(alt: Jessica Lange - Feud: Bette and Joan)

Actor in a Limited Series: De Niro - Law - MacLachlan - McGregor - Rush

(alt: Kyle MacLachlan - Twin Peaks: The Return)
Any of these could take it.

Actress in a Comedy: Adlon - Brie - Brosnahan - Rae - Shaw
WILL WIN: Rachel Brosnahan - The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
(alt: Frankie Shaw - SMILF)

Actor in a Comedy: Anderson - Ansari - Bacon - Macy - McCormack
WILL WIN: Aziz Ansari - Master of None
(alt: William H. Macy - Shameless)
If he's nominated for a show so far in its run, he's probably gonna win. This is a toss up.

Actress in a Drama: Balfe - Foy - Gyllenhaal - Langford - Moss
WILL WIN: Elisabeth Moss - The Handmaid's Tale
(alt: Maggie Gyllenhaal - The Deuce)

MOVIES!

WILL WIN: Coco
(alt: Loving Vincent)

Foreign Language Film: A Fantastic Woman - First They Killed My Father - In the Fade - Loveless - The Square
WILL WIN: A Fantastic Woman
(alt: First They Killed My Father)

Original Song: Coco - Ferdinand - The Greatest Showman - Mudbound - The Star
WILL WIN: "This Is Me" - The Greatest Showman
(alt: "Remember Me" - Coco)

Original Score: Dunkirk - Phantom Thread - The Post - The Shape of Water - Three Billboards...
WILL WIN: Dunkirk
(alt: The Shape of Water)

Screenplay: Lady Bird - Molly's Game - The Post - The Shape of Water - Three Billboards...
WILL WIN: Three Billboards...
(alt: Lady Bird)
I really want to predict Lady Bird. I thnk only Shape doesn't have a shot here.

Supporting Actress: Mary J. Blige - Hong Chau - Allison Janney - Laurie Metcalf - Octavia Spencer
WILL WIN: Allison Janney - I, Tonya
(alt: Laurie Metcalf - Lady Bird)
This. Is. So. Close.

Supporting Actor: Willem Dafoe - Armie Hammer - Richard Jenkins - Sam Rockwell - Christopher Plummer
WILL WIN: Willem Dafoe - The Florida Project
(alt: Sam Rockwell - Three Billboards...)
If Dafoe wins this, he'll probably sweep.

Actress - Comedy/Musical: Judi Dench - Helen Mirren - Margot Robbie - Saoirse Ronan - Emma Stone
WILL WIN: Saoirse Ronan - Lady Bird
(alt: Margot Robbie - I, Tonya)
This. Is. So. Close.

Actor - Comedy/Musical: Steve Carell - Ansel Elgort - James Franco - Hugh Jackman - Daniel Kaluuya
WILL WIN: James Franco - The Disaster Artist
(alt: Hugh Jackman - The Greatest Showman)
I don't think Kaluuya has much of a shot here.

Actress - Drama: Jessica Chastain - Sally Hawkins - Frances McDormand - Meryl Streep - Michelle Williams
WILL WIN: Frances McDormand - Three Billboards...
(alt: Sally Hawkins - The Shape of Water)
I think Frances is out front, but Sally and Meryl are biting at her heels. They might vote Streep just for another speech.

Actor - Drama: Timothee Chalamet - Daniel Day-Lewis - Tom Hanks - Gary Oldman - Denzel Washington
WILL WIN: Gary Oldman - The Darkest Hour
(alt: Timothee Chalamet - Call Me By Your Name)
Oldman really hates them, so they could easily go for Chalamet.

Director: Guillermo Del Toro - Martin McDonagh - Christopher Nolan - Ridley Scott - Steven Spielberg
WILL WIN: Christopher Nolan - Dunkirk
(alt: Guillermo Del Toro - The Shape of Water)

Film - Comedy/Musical: The Disaster Artist - Get Out - The Greatest Showman - I, Tonya - Lady Bird
WILL WIN: Lady Bird
(alt: Get Out)

Film - Drama: Call Me By Your Name - Dunkirk - The Post - The Shape of Water - Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
WILL WIN: The Shape of Water
(alt: The Post)
I think any of these except Call Me could win. I have The Post going 0/6 which is rare, but La La Land went 7/7 last year and that has never happened.

Lots of close races. Hopefully, they don't make things too boring.
