Box: Kate McKinnon continues 2016 domination

1. Moana - $17m / $143.5m / $225m
2. Office Christmas Party - $15m / $15m / $60m
3. Fantastic Beasts - $10.5m / $199.5m / $230m
4. Arrival - $5m / $81m / $100m
5. Allied - $4.5m / $36.5m / $48m
**Doctor Strange - $4.5m / $222m / $236m
7. Trolls - $3.5m / $146m / $156m
8. Miss Sloane - $3m / $3.1m / $10m
**Manchester by the Sea - $3m / $8m / $35m
10. Nocturnal Animals - $2.5m / $5.5m / $11m

Office Christmas Party is the only opener, while Miss Sloane and Nocturnal Animals both expand wide. Party will benefit from being one of the only comedies of the season (I don't have high hopes for Why Him?). Sloane has been doing mediocre in limited, while Nocturnal has been steady despite divisive reaction. Manchester by the Sea continues to amaze and with an expansion to a couple hundred theaters will make the top 10 easily. Jackie did decent if unspectacular numbers last weekend. Most people were expecting a PTA of $100k+, but it just did about half that. It expands to 40 theaters this weekend, while La La Land opens in 5. La La, however, should definitely get one of the highest averages of the year before it expands next weekend.
