I have no idea about these openers. Poltergeist, despite being a remake of a beloved film, seems to have no buzz whatsoever and reviews are bad. The promotion seems to be lacking as well. As for Tomorrowland, it could be helped by the lack of family films in the marketplace. Reviews are mixed, too. Mad Max and Pitch Perfect 2 did really well last weekend, and they could quite easily repeat at #1 and #2. Far From the Madding Crowd expands to moderate wide release, so it'll probably make the top 10. Overall, a rather dismal Memorial Day weekend. That date seems to be getting less and less important.
