Oscar Nominations Thoughts!

Aww, poor Jen. You really tried, girl!

So much strangeness.

Very happy for Marion Cotillard and Laura Dern finally getting those second noms. Haven't seen either of their films, but they are amazing actresses.

Biggest Snub of the Morning: THE LEGO MOVIE!??!?!?!??! Like WTF. Definitely the biggest snub of the morning in my mind. I'm thinking the live action parts may have done it in. And the morning started out so promisingly with "Everything Is Awesome" getting in.

Best Actor is just a massive fuck up. It just went so boring after some minor shakeups over the past couple of weeks. Jake is still chasing that followup nom. Can't believe Carell actually made it in, but I know Cooper was peaking at the right time. Steve's perf was not that great and should have been supporting where he could have knocked Duvall out. Cooper has three consecutive Oscar nominations now!

Selma got in for Picture & Song and nothing else. Paramount really fucked that campaign up. It should have been held for this year.

I thought for a second when Gone Girl was snubbed in screenplay that Rosamund might be out as well. All the writers are white men, as are the directors. So...

Inherent Vice getting two noms, but Brolin couldn't knock Duvall out. Damn.

After lots of buzz the past month, Nightcrawler only gets in for screenplay.

The Academy Prez said Dick Poop.

Budapest and Birdman lead with 9 noms. Grand Budapest Hotel opened in March. Please let this be a lesson for Hollywood.

Bennett Miller becomes the first lone director nomination since the expanded lineup. Very odd.
