First off, bad morning for Angelina Jolie. Unbroken goes nowhere and she doesn't even get in for Maleficent. (And on the tabloid side, her estranged father and husband's ex-wife both did get nominated.) I think Unbroken, outside of the tech categories, will be dead at the Oscars. I wasn't predicting American Sniper for anything here, but this also proves that that is a nonstarter. Though AMPAS has revived Clint before...

Biggest winner of the morning might be The Grand Budapest Hotel. Other people are comparing it to Midnight in Paris, and that might be accurate. It's probably going to show up in some big categories at the Oscars. Gone Girl also got a nice boost. Probably 6th in Picture this morning, I'm assuming.

The usual contenders - Birdman, Boyhood, Theory of Everything and Imitation Game - solidified their places in the Oscar race. Supporting Actor went 5/5 with SAG, and lead actress matched the drama category here. That's never happened, apparently. So, are those lineups settled? I guess we'll have to wait to see if BAFTA shakes things up.

Sad that Jenny Slate and Begin Again didn't happen. Both very deserving. If you haven't seen them, don't let the snubs deter you. Quvenzhane is a surprise, given they usually hate children. Double noms for Julianne Moore, Bill Murray and Mark Ruffalo! This is actually Mark's first Globe nom(s). As for music, Lorde is now a Golden Globe nominee! Sadly, no Taylor Vs. Tina & Amy: Round 3.

TV:
Sad to see Tatiana miss here, but they nominated her last year. And her SAG nom yesterday was a nice surprise. Get it together, Emmy's!

Uzo again! Really awesome.  Brooklyn Nine-Nine won 2 last year, and isn't nominated at all this year. Damn.

OMG NO JULIA ROBERTS!!!! Behind Jolie, biggest snub of the morning considering the HFPA's reputation as star fuckers. They are slowly moving away from star fucking.

Hmm, I wonder about Lisa Kudrow in The Comeback. Despite it's buzz, it really feels like a show that the mainstream just doesn't give a shit about. Full disclosure: I think it's a terribly overrated show.

Very happy to see Fargo lead the noms. I prefer it to True Detective.

One month to go until these air! Can't wait!
