Exodus arrives with a big whimper. No real buzz and controversy over the casting (I still love you, Joel!), it'll probably perform only slightly more than spring's Noah. Opening in just over 900 theaters is Top Five, which has to be the most mishandled movie this season. The buzz from Toronto was huge, but this release strategy - I'm assuming they're going to expand it in the coming weeks - isn't going to pay off. Paramount should've saved it for late spring or early summer and give it a proper push. The awards films will get bumps with the Globe noms tomorrow, but this will be the first time in two months Gone Girl won't be in the top 10. That was the run of the fall so far.
