The Pyramid is the only opener, but it's only getting about 500 theaters for some odd reason. (I know. It's probably shitty, but when has that ever stopped a film from going ultrawide?) Theory of Everything expanded well last weekend, so maybe Focus should step it up before the big films of December arrive. Foxcatcher also would have been a good choice to go wide this weekend, as its performing solidly in just under a hundred theaters. Sony Pictures Classics really takes its time with its films, though. Both openers last weekend underwhelmed, and neither will cross $100m. The top 5 will remain the same. The Imitation Game did spectacular business in several big cities, and will expand to additional markets next weekend. Opening in limited this weekend is Wild. I'm not sure what the expansion plans are for that (probably semi-wide by Christmas Day, I presume) but it'll probably fall in line with the earnings of Birdman and Theory of Everything.
