The final installment of The Hobbit opens today. It's probably the only assured blockbuster of the rest of the year. Night at the Museum 3 and Annie will vie for the family audience before Into the Woods opens on Thursday. Of the three, I think Woods will probably do the best as it has stars and Disney behind it, as well as an awards fun. I'm not sure anyone was really asking for another Night movie, but it should do enough to cross $100m with ease. I'm largely unsure of Annie. It's competing for families with Night, for the Broadway audience with Woods, and the film leaked a few weeks ago. Plus, the reviews are legit awful. I still think it'll do fine, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't. Wild expands to over a thousand screens, It's been doing well so far, and Reese is still a draw. I wouldn't be surprised if it makes it to the low 40's, as I hear its an audience friendly film. Foxcatcher appears to be getting a big expansion this weekend, but I haven't seen any estimates.
