Interstellar disappointed last weekend, and Big Hero 6 opened in line with expectations. This week brings the arrival of the 20 Years Later... sequel Dumb and Dumber To. It's one of the harder movies to predict, as the first is a beloved classic. However, everything about this feels kind of desperate and I'm not sure if there's a good comparison of the performance of a sequel opening that far away from the original. Beyond the Lights has good reviews and probably didn't cost much, so it'll do just fine. Opening in a few hundred theaters is Jon Stewart's directorial debut, Rosewater. He and Comedy Central are pushing the film hard, but I'm not sure this is a lot of interest. The bottom of the top 10 is a tight race, so it might be able to make it. Also opening is the Kirk Cameron vehicle Saving Christmas for the Fox News set, which is only playing for 2 weeks. He no doubt has a following, so it might make the top 10 as well.
