I have no idea about these openers.  Tracking has them both going 40m+, which seems awfully optimistic particularly for 300.  The first one opened 7 years ago, a very long period in sequel time.  The box-office has been strong this year and that will continue into this month.  Divergent, opening in two weeks, is tracking in the high 60's.  Hooray for 2014.  12 Years a Slave is expanding into 1000+ theaters, but with its DVD/Blu release being yesterday I'm not sure how much that will add.
