RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman

Pretty devastated right now.  I had heard about his personal problems.  Despite the high amount of tragic ends that we witness coming from this industry, we always think people will pull themselves together eventually.  I won't get into that any further.  Hoffman was one of the greatest actors of his generation, someone who always added something to his films even in the tiniest parts (see his recent work in Hunger Games: Catching Fire.)  In addition to being able to do just about anything on screen, he had one of the most powerful voices of any actor working and it demanded our attention like only the greats can do.  He won the leading actor Oscar for Capote, and was nominated three additional times in supporting for Charlie Wilson's War, Doubt and The Master.  Any of his collaborations with Paul Thomas Anderson and Capote are his best works.  It was recently announced he was going to direct a film called Ezekiel Moss that would star Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams (who co-starred with Hoffman in three films).  He last two films will hit theaters this year: A Most Wanted Man and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1.  It's not yet known if his role in the latter was completed.
