1. Thor: The Dark World - $36m
It opened within expectations, and continues to be a man-beast overseas. By Sunday evening, it should be just below $150m domestically, and is looking to finish at about $225m. This is more than enough to give the pre-Hunger Games holiday season the kick it needed.
2. The Best Man Holiday - $20m
Back in October of 1999, the original opened with just over $9m and finished with $34m. I was not aware it had a following, but apparently it does. That said, I don't think it breaking out and like many films aimed at African Americans will probably be frontloaded. Still, it should end up with over $50m.
3. Free Birds - $8.5m
It will continue to hold on nicely with no competition. Expect a finish of around $65m.
4. Last Vegas - $7.5m
This is also holding strong and is having solid weekdays. $65m finish, as well.
5. Bad Grandpa - $6.5m
Decent legs so far, it'll get to over $100m but not much more. After this weekend, it will be just below $90m.
6. Gravity - $6m
That number takes it to $240m, and it held on last week despite probably losing a lot of 3D screens to Thor.
7. Ender's Game - $5.5m
After suffering a brutal second week drop, it might stabilizie somewhat. It should be in the low 50's after this weekend, and will end up - like all movies that opened November 1 - at $65m
8. 12 Years a Slave - $5m
Good expansion last weekend, and we'll see how it holds despite some slight competition from The Best Man Holiday. It'll be at $25m after the weekend, more than enough to get it to be the Oscar juggernaut we knew it would be.
9. Captain Phillips - $4m
Really great holds for this in the month since its release, and it should get to $110-115m when all is said and done.
10. About Time - $3.5m
This has done okay, but it's just further proof that romances are probably dead for this era. $20m looks to be its domestic take.
