The Apparition - $4.5m / $4.5m / $11m

The story this weekend will be 2016 Obama's America, if only by default because of how dead business will be.   Given it saw an unexpected uptick in per theatre average with a theatre expansion last weekend, Rocky Mountain Pictures is hoping that will continue as they take it to around a thousand theatres.   I really have no idea how it will perform.   The problem with this weekend is that #3 through #12 are only separated by about 4 million.   This means the order of films could be thrown out of whack as its a close race.   Apparition is only opening in 800 theatres, which seems very odd.   I guess it must really suck.   If Premium Rush goes higher, we can expect stories Monday about how Gordon-Levitt is the new It Boy.   Some of us saw that coming 7 years ago.   Just sayin.
