Last Friday's Aurora shooting put a big damper on that weekend's numbers.  While Knight Rises still managed the third biggest opening weekend, people definitely avoided movie theatres.  It looks like business was affected between 15-20%, as the smallest drop in the top 10 was 45% and most films dropped between 55-60%.  The big question is can things bounce back this weekend or will it take a few more weekends (August 10 looks promising).  It won't help that neither opener draw audiences.  The Watch, which was already hurt by the Trayvon Martin news story, looks to be double screwed.  And Step Up 4 should not exist at all.  Talk about a studio just throwing money down the drain.
