Return of the late 90's blockbusters! These two are tough. Now, I'm slightly biased against the American Pie franchise, but none of the ads for this have been funny. At all. Then, there's the media's hilarious "how did they get this cast back together?" spin on the film. Really? Alyson Hannigan is probably the only one doing something other than starring in a show that won't last past episode 3 or a really bad direct-to-dvd horror movie. But whatever. The film's performance will probably lean more toward Scream 4 (sidenote: shut up.) than Mission Impossible 4. And what reunion are they having? They graduated 13 years ago. So yeah, I have nothing against the film obviously. As for Titanic, there seems to be more anticipation for it. The re-release will be hurt mostly by the film's runtime. Do audiences really want to see a 3hr+ film in 3D when 90 minute films give them huge headaches? I think its performance will fall somewhere between Episode 1 and Lion King. Because of the top films saturating the market, Salmon Fishing will enjoy a second week in the top 10. Its performance, however, still feels too small to be considered a breakout. I suppose word of mouth might pick up.
