Big surprise from last weekend isn't the just-slightly-underwhelming performance of Rango, but rather it getting a C+ from Cinemascore. The last family aimed film to get that low was Where the Wild Things Are, and that film's opening was just a little less than half its final gross. I expect Rango should have better legs, but by family films' standards, it'll still be low. I've stated for awhile now that Little Red Riding Hood has the potential to make a great movie, but alas the Catherine Hardwicke-directed film opening Friday doesn't look to be it. Mars Needs Moms just looks creepy, so Battle: Los Angeles - with its spectacular trailer - should have an easy journey to #1 and probably be there next weekend, too.
