Emmy Dix!

I don't care much about the drama categories so I'll just do "Will Win"'s for them.

DRAMA:

Series: Mad Men
Actor: Michael C. Hall - Dexter
Actress: Julianna Margulies - The Good Wife
Supp. Actor: Terry O'Quinn - Lost
Supp. Actress: Christina Hendricks - Mad Men
Writing: Mad Men - Guy Walks Into An Advertising Agency
Directing: Lost - The End

I think the buzz for Lost died 2 months ago, though they'll give it at least one of the big awards. I'm confident in Julianna taking lead actress, less confident about Hall. Supporting - I have no idea. Most experts really have no idea with those categories, as the Emmys are the most random of all awards bodies. When you think you have them pegged and they'll do the right thing, they fallback on the most mundane of winners.

COMEDY:

Series -
WILL WIN: Modern Family
SHOULD WIN: Modern Family
SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOMINATED (AND WON): Parks and Recreation
Expect Modern Family to just barely survive the Glee hype machine. Despite the musical series having higher highs, it also unfortunately had lower lows. So I'd happily vote for the other freshman series, which had some of the biggest laugh-out-loud moments since Arrested Development. Columbia/Brown, anyone?

Actor -
WILL WIN: Jim Parsons - The Big Bang Theory
SHOULD WIN: Steve Carell - The Office
Honestly, I could care less about this. Baldwin is been there, done that. I think Parsons is great in what I've seen of the show. Its just ridiculous Steve has yet to win. I guess they are saving it for next year, his last.

Actress -
WILL WIN: Edie Falco - Nurse Jackie
SHOULD WIN: Amy Poehler - Parks and Recreation
SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOMINATED: Courteney Cox - Cougar Town; Portia De Rossi - Better Off Ted
All of these women are terrific. Tina, Julia and Toni have already won. Toni could repeat, easily. I'm expecting Falco because she's a veteran and the show was liked enough to get into series. Lea is a deserving nominee but will sit the night out. Nothing would make me happier than a Poehler upset. That she wasn't recognized earlier in the year by the Globes or the SAGs is a disgrace!

Supporting Actor -
WILL WIN: Neil Patrick Harris - How I Met Your Mother
SHOULD WIN: Eric Stonestreet - Modern Family
SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOMINATION: Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman or Chris Pratt - Parks and Recreation; Ed O'Neill - Modern Family (the only "parent" of the cast that didn't get nominated)
This is a lot like the drama supporting categories. Jesse is the only one I can't see winning. Obviously they weren't going to give Charlie or Two and a Half Men nominations cause that would be shameful. Maybe they'll allow Cryer to repeat. That's assuming they didn't see the reactions of the crowd when he won last year. Assume the Modern Family guys cancel each other out, and that allows award show staple Harris to finally win. I hope he gives a shout-out to his fellow gays.

Supporting Actress -
WILL WIN: Jane Lynch - Glee
SHOULD WIN: Jane Lynch - Glee
SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOMINATED: Busy Phillips - Cougar Town; Aubrey Plaza - Parks and Recreation
Given it is the Emmys, any sure thing is never a sure thing. But Lynch seems in. Really - given she's in every sketch, shouldn't Kristen Wiig be considered lead? I expect Julie and Sofia will cancel each other out, though both are deserving future winners.

Directing -
WILL WIN: Glee - Pilot
SHOULD WIN: Glee - Pilot
Sorta like Desperate Housewives' freshman year, Glee will take an acting category and directing. The Pilot is easy the best way to reward the series.

Writing -
WILL WIN: Modern Family - Pilot
SHOULD WIN: Modern Family - Pilot
Easily the best here, though I'm surprised several of the show's other episodes didn't get in, too. Weird that 30 Rock still got multiple noms here.

As always...

RED CARPET WOOHOO OMFG!

I plan on posting as these are happening tomorrow night. So the three of you reading should be very excited.
