7/15. OUCH! (+4 alts)
That James Hong moment is why I love award shows. An absolute all-timer. In fact, all four film acting winners seemed genuinely excited and happy to have won.
Whew, EEAAO came back strong and broke the SAG record. 4 wins in a night. And in terms of the overall race, it means at least three of the acting categories are now genuine races, with only Quan looking to be close to a lock. A24 won big tonight, wow.
As for the show, I had some glitches with the stream, but the last hour played through fine. It was decent. Ran only 15 minutes over what it would have on TNT/TBS and we got some swearing. It was weird they beeped the swearing in some of the acting clips, except for Condon's FECKING from Banshees. If you left the stream on, it started playing The Help. Just like the good old days of watching on TNT/TBS. Mark Wahlberg said "Women Are Talking". (Kind of an ick choice to present an award that was clearly going to EEAAO.) Some of the presenter banter was really painful, but I was loving the Jenna Ortega/Aubrey Plaza bit. The clips from past shows were oddly edited, with reaction shots not matching who was speaking. (There was one where Hailee Steinfeld was shown in the audience during Zellweger's Chicago win. LOL.) I appreciated they did those as it provided a bathroom break. Sally Field was lovely, as always. And Jesus H. Christ, Andrew Garfield can get it.
