SAG Reax; Netflix Picks Up Show

The big news before today's typically chaotic SAG nominations was Netflix has picked up the ceremony starting next year. This year's ceremony will be broadcast live on Netflix's YouTube channel. This is the first major film/television award show to go exclusively streaming. Not a surprise given how many nominations Netflix has scored over the past decade, particularly in the television categories.

SAG did a third year in a row of announcing on Instagram, and it continues to be an absolute shit show. I hope Netflix can convince them to go back to an in-studio announcement. Haley Lu Richardson (who is great!) add Ashley Park (who I'm not familiar with) did the announcing and were way too giggly. And funnily enough, the Brad Pitt love seeped into their duties.

My scores:
Supporting Male - 4/5
Supporting Female - 3/5 (+alt)
Leading Male - 4/5
Leading Female - 4/5 (+alt)
Cast - 3/5
18/25

The shock of the morning was no Michelle Williams (but she did a get a nom as part of the ensemble)! And Ana de Armas made it in after all. Adam Sandler's hustling at those roundtables paid off, too. I said Women Talking could be revived when I did my predictions and that is a needed get for the film. Babylon, despite the theatrical flopping, got nominated in the end, too.

On to DGA...
