94th Oscar Reax

Some crazy stuff here, but I think these aren't bad at all?

I'm most sad about Denis missing, and Ruth Negga too. Of course they went with Judi Dench. Ugh. Kinda sad for Balfe, too. She was effervescent and best in show for me in Belfast.

I was right about Jessica. She was just campaigning nonstop since the film was released. Stewart, too. That Actress lineup is probably the best possible outcome. Sorry, Gaga. Just saw that nobody from the BAFTA lineup made Actress. LOL. Nice.

Big morning in the Plemmons-Dunst and Bardem-Cruz households. I wonder if that's ever happened - two couples in the acting categories. So happy Dunst finally get her first nomination. I'll pretend Jesse's nom is for Game Night.

Jessie Buckley!!!! She was getting nominated sooner or later.

Supporting actor was so up in the air that JK's nom shouldn't be that surprising. I love that the Academy now snubbed Jared Leto twice in a row, and then went with the next Supporting Actor winner after him.

Jane Campion becomes the first woman to get multiple Best Directing nominations!

Nightmare Alley must have one of the most bizarre awards runs I've ever seen. It seemingly wasn't hurt by being a huge flop, but West Side Story kinda was?

My Drive My Car predix paid off!

Before I tally my predictions, I'm going to go ahead and guess that this may be one of my worst batch of predictions. Felt like I missed a lot, and I think I only did 5/5 in one category. (Turns out 3!)

Picture - 9/10
Directing - 4/5 (+alt)
Actor - 4/5 (+alt)
Actress - 4/5
Supp. Actor - 3/5 (+alt)
Supp. Actress - 3/5
O. Screen - 4/5
A. Screen - 4/5 (+alt)
Animated - 5/5
Documentary - 4/5
International - 4/5
Cinematography - 5/5
Film Editing - 3/5
Costume - 4/5 (+alt)
Production - 4/5
Makeup - 5/5
Score - 3/5 (+alt)
Song - 3/5 (+alt)
Sound - 4/5
Visual - 3/5 (+alt)

82/105 = 78.1%
Top 8 = 35/45 = 77.8%

My overall is better than last year, but top 8 is less. That's actually my worst top 8 score since 2008. Yikes.

And, of course, congratulations to FIVE TIME OSCAR NOMINEE NICOLE KIDMAN WHO MAY BE A TWO-TIME WINNER in a month a half.
