The sequel/prequel to the $600m grossing worldwide sensation looks like it'll be quite capable of being an event itself. Early sales are pretty big and reviews are actually better than the first. The latter I did not see coming, especially as people might be duped into believing Meryl and Cher have significant roles when they are both reportedly just cameos. That said, I'm here for Lily James to be a star. Two other sequels also open. I believe The Equalizer 2 is Denzel's first sequel. (MM:HWGA is Meryl's first sequel, too.) Just shows how times are changing. Unfriended: Dark Web has okay reviews, but really feels like it doesn't have any buzz whatsoever. In limited, last weekend Eighth Grade scored the biggest PTA of the year. That one feels like it could be a breakout. As for last weekend, it looks like audiences may finally have Dwayne Johnson-fatigue.
