Yeah, ended up a little off on Deadpool. It's gotta be one of the most surprising runs for a film ever. I think legs will be comparable to a Fast and Furious sequel, but it'll pass $300m. Just insane for an R-rated superhero comedy released in February. Three openers this weekend. The first has Jesus, so it'll do well. Risen's run will be similar to that Son of God movie that opened a few years back. Race was probably hoping to a similar run as 42, but it doesn't look as strong. Lastly is The Witch. I've seen minimal TV advertising for it, and I'm not sure I approve of A24's idea of releasing the film 13 months after its Sundance debut. Reviews are great, but it won't be an audience-friendly film. It should, however, give Ex Machina a run for being A24's highest grossing film.
