Nikki Finke dropped hints yesterday that the new producers (including Chicago screenwriter Bill Condon) were going a different direction from the past decade of stand-up comedians. Keep in mind back in the 70's and 80's, people like Jack Lemmon, Jane Fonda, Ellen Burstyn, Burt Reynolds and Alan Alda took turns as the host for the Academy Awards. Hugh hosted the Tony's previously and did a great job, even winning an Emmy for his work. I think Mr. Jackman will make a fantastic master of ceremonies, and perhaps will make some jokes about Australia not being good enough for Oscars. Also, expect some singing!
