GOLDEN GLOBE PREDICTIONS!!!! Harvey Benjamin Barcelona!

Announcing Thursday morning by Elizabeth Banks, Terrence Howard and Rainn Wilson.

Not doing TV categories, though I'm curious as to what new stuff they'll nominate given that nothing "new" really took off in the past couple of months. Maybe True Blood?? Who knows. Nevertheless, go PUSHING DAISIES and 30 ROCK. Oh, I hope they do something typically Globe-y (read: crazy) and nominate Kristin Wiig. My life would be complete.

Here goes...

Supp. Actress:
Penelope Cruz - Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Viola Davis - Doubt
Rosemarie DeWitt - Rachel Getting Married
Taraji P. Henson - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Kate Winslet - The Reader

1st Alt: Marisa Tomei - The Wrestler
2nd Alt: Beyonce Knowles - Cadillac Records
Penny, Viola and Kate seem locked in. DeWitt could be easily replaced by her costar, Debra Winger. Then the BFCA had to go and throw Vera Farmiga at me, which made me slightly antsy. Still, there doesn't seem to be much buzz now for Nothing But the Truth.

Supp. Actor:
Josh Brolin - Milk
Robert Downey Jr - Tropic Thunder
James Franco - Milk
Heath Ledger - The Dark Knight
Brad Pitt - Burn After Reading

1st Alt: Philip Seymour Hoffman - Doubt
2nd Alt: Michael Shannon - Revolutionary Road
Heath and the Milk men seem safe. I passed on Philip Seymour Hoffman for Doubt even though everyone else is predicting him. They nominated him twice last year and I don't see Doubt making their drama list. And remember two weeks ago when everyone was talking about Michael Shannon? What happened to that buzz? Did they send it to the island with the electric car and Coolio? As far as Pitt goes, STAR-FUCKERS!

Screenplay:
Eric Roth - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Peter Morgan - Frost/Nixon
Dustin Lance Black - Milk
Jenny Lumet - Rachel Getting Married
Simon Beaufoy - Slumdog Millionaire

1st Alt: Woody Allen - Vicky Cristina Barcelona
2nd Alt: John Patrick Shanley - Doubt
Eh, not much more to say here.

Score:
Changeling
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Dark Knight
Milk
Slumdog Millionaire

Original Song:
"By the Boab Tree" - Australia
"Another Way to Die" - Quantum of Solace
"All Dressed In Love" - Sex and the City: The Movie
"Down to Earth" - Wall-E
"The Wrestler" - The Wrestler

No comments on either of these.

Actor - Comedy/Musical
Javier Bardem - Vicky Cristina Barcelona
George Clooney - Burn After Reading
Ricky Gervais - Ghost Town
Dustin Hoffman - Last Chance Harvey
Jeffrey Wright - Cadillac Records

1st Alt: Harrison Ford - Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
2nd Alt: Sam Rockwell - Choke
This category is dead. Maybe Franco will show up here for Pineapple Express. Jim Carrey - Yes Man? Nope.

Actress - Comedy/Musical
Sally Hawkins - Happy-Go-Lucky
Frances McDormand - Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day
Sarah Jessica Parker - Sex and the City: The Movie
Meryl Streep - Mammia Mia!: The Movie
Emma Thompson - Last Chance Harvey

1st Alt: Rebecca Hall - Vicky Cristina Barcelona
2nd Alt: Rachel Weisz - The Brothers Bloom
Scarjo would make more sense as an alternate for VCB, but Hall has the new "it girl" to her. Tina Fey could show up here for Baby Mama. Not as dead as comedy actor, but still pretty brokedown.

Film - Comedy/Musical:
Burn After Reading
Happy-Go-Lucky
Mamma Mia!: The Movie
Tropic Thunder
Vicky Cristina Barcelona

1st Alt: Sex and the City: The Movie
2nd Alt: Cadillac Records
A whole lot of star fucking, and they love their Sex and the City! Maybe something crazy like Marley and Me?

Actor - Drama
Leonardo DiCaprio - Revolutionary Road
Clint Eastwood - Gran Torino
Frank Langella - Frost/Nixon
Sean Penn - Milk
Mickey Rourke - The Wrestler

1st Alt: Will Smith - Seven Pounds
2nd Alt: Richard Jenkins
I guess Pitt could also make it in here, and something tells me Jenkins will be the obligatory "gets an Oscar nod despite no Globe nod."

Actress - Drama
Cate Blanchett - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Anne Hathaway - Rachel Getting Married
Angelina Jolie - Changeling
Melissa Leo - Frozen River
Meryl Streep - Doubt

1st Alt: Kate Winslet - Revolutionary Road
2nd Alt: Kate Beckinsale - Nothing but the Truth
Kristin Scott Thomas, maybe. Nope? K. Melissa Leo could go the same route as Richard Jenkins, but she has lots of buzz and acclaim with her. I could see Michelle Williams, too.

Director
David Fincher - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Christopher Nolan - The Dark Knight
Ron Howard - Frost/Nixon
Gus Van Sant - Milk
Danny Boyle - Slumdog Millionaire

1st Alt: Woody Allen - Vicky Cristina Barcelona
2nd Alt: Jonathan Demme - Rachel Getting Married
Maybe Sam Mendes. I'm just throwing Woody in there based on how much they loved Match Point. Demme seems to be everyone's lone director. I have no idea who else? Mike Leigh? Clint Eastwood, please no!

Film - Drama
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Dark Knight
Milk
Revolutionary Road
Slumdog Millionaire

1st Alt: Frost/Nixon
2nd Alt: The Wrestler
Should I include 2 more alternates just cause they listed 7 movies in this category last year? Doubt and Rachel Getting Married. I guess Defiance could show up somewhere here?

I'll skip Animated Feature and Foreign Film.

Have a Golden Globey Thursday morning!
