My Most Anticipated of 2008



1. REVOLUTIONARY ROAD
A young couple living in a Connecticut suburb during the mid-1950s struggle to come to terms with their personal problems while trying to raise their two children. Based on a novel by Richard Yates. Directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Jarhead) Starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Kate Winslet, Kathy Bates and Michael Shannon. DECEMBER 19, 2008 (Will be released approxiamately 11 years after Titanic.)

2. MILK
The story of California's first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk, a San Francisco supervisor who was assassinated along with Mayor George Moscone by San Francisco Supervisor Dan White. Directed by Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, To Die For, My Own Private Idaho) Starring Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Emile Hirsch, James Franco, Victor Garber, Diego Luna, Denis O'Hare and Allison Pill. 3. THE DARK KNIGHT
Batman and James Gordon join forces with Gotham's new District Attorney, Harvey Dent, to take on a psychotic bank robber known as The Joker, whilst other forces plot against them, and Joker's crimes grow more and more deadly. 4. AUSTRALIA
Set in northern Australia before World War II, an English aristocrat who inherits a sprawling ranch reluctantly pacts with a stock-man in order to protect her new property from a takeover plot. As the pair drive 2,000 head of cattle over unforgiving landscape, they experience the bombing of Darwin, Australia, by Japanese forces firsthand. 5. SEX AND THE CITY
Based on the Emmy and Golden Globe winning comedy series which ran on HBO from 1998 to 2004 and became a cultural phenomenon, the film follows the continuing adventures of sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw as she, along with sardonic Miranda, Park Avenue princess Charlotte, and feisty Samantha, deals with relationship drama both in and out of the bedroom. Directed by Michael Patrick King. Starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Chris Noth and Jennifer Hudson. MAY 30, 2008.

6. THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE
A romantic drama about a Chicago librarian with a gene that causes him to involuntarily time travel, and the complications it creates for his marriage. Directed by Robert Schwentke (Flightplan) Starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams. SUMMER 2008

7. HE'S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU
Based on the best-selling book by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo. The Baltimore-set romantic comedy of interconnecting story arcs deals with the challenges of reading or misreading human behavior in an era where human contact has been replaced by technology and isolation. Directed by Ken Kwapis (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) Starring Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connelly, Ginnifer Goodwin, Ben Affleck, Justin Long and Kris Kristofferson. 8. DOOMSDAY
Great Britain, 2007. A deadly plague, known as the "Reaper Virus," has broken out, killing hundreds of thousands in its wake. In desperation, the British Government evacuates as many survivors as it can out of the infected area, and then builds a wall, preventing the remainder from escaping. Thirty years later, with the wall still up and the victims all but forgotten, the virus breaks out again. The Government decides to send a crack team of operatives, led by Major Eden Sinclair, into the hot zone to investigate the possibility of a cure. In order to raise the tuition to send her young son to private school, a mom starts an unusual business -- a biohazard removal/crime scene clean-up service -- with her unreliable sister. 11. MAMMA MIA!
The story of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father told using hit songs by the popular '70s group ABBA. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd. Starring Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgaard, Julie Walters, Dominic Cooper and Christine Baranski. JULY 18, 2008

12. THE INTERNATIONAL
An Interpol agent attempts to expose a high-profile financial institution's role in an international arms dealing ring. Directed by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run, Heaven) Starring Clive Owen and Naomi Watts. AUGUST 15, 2008

13. BLINDNESS
A doctor's wife becomes the only person with the ability to see in a town where everyone is struck with a mysterious case of sudden blindness. Directed by Fernando Meirelles (The Constant Gardener, City of God) Starring Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Gael Garcia Bernal, Sandra Oh, Danny Glover and Alice Braga. AUGUST 8, 2008

14. THE YOUNG VICTORIA
A dramatization of the turbulent first years of Queen Victoria's rule, and her enduring romance with Prince Albert. Directed by Jean-Marc Vallee. Starring Emily Blunt, Rupert Friend, Paul Bettany, Jim Broadbent and Miranda Richardson. 2008

15. THE X-FILES 2
A sequel to the 1998 blockbuster film, an adaptation of the popular science fiction series that chronicles the investigation by two FBI Agents, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, into the top secret "X-Files" which involve alien and other unexplained phenomena. Directed by Chris Carter. Starring David Duchnovy, Gillian Anderson, Amanda Peet, Billy Connolly and Xzibit. JULY 25, 2008

16. GREY GARDENS
Based on the life stories of the eccentric aunt and first cousin of Jackie Kennedy (both named Edith Bouvier Beale aka "Big and Little Edie") raised as Park Avenue débutantes but who withdrew from New York society, taking shelter at their Long Island summer home, "Grey Gardens." As their wealth and contact with the outside world dwindled, so did their grasp on reality. Directed by Michael Sucsy. Starring Drew Barrymore, Jessica Lange and Jeanne Tripplehorn. FALL 2008

17. THE READER

18. MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY

19. BURN AFTER READING
A disk containing the memoirs of a CIA agent ends up in the hands of two unscrupulous gym employees who attempt to sell it. 20. THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL
