10. XXX: The Return of Xander Cage - $4m / $40.5m / $49m

Split's performance is really something, a genuine word of mouth hit in January. Hidden Figures and La La Land continue to slay, while A Dog's Purpose wasn't hurt too much by the controversy. Super Bowl weekend sees two new openers, both long delayed. Rings was supposed to be released Fall 2015 (I think?) but it might not have been finished production. I'm not sure how much gas this franchise still has in the tank as no one remembers The Ring 2. The Space Between Us was pushed all over last fall's schedule. Settling on February may have seemed like a good idea, but it's romance competition (La La Land and next week's Fifty Shades Darker) will bury it. Lion expands wide, and the word of mouth on it is great.
